DSME takes first LNG order of 2015

The South Korean Builder Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) has taken an order for a 174,000m³ eco-type LNG carrier, but has not revealed who the vessel is for.

The new carrier will be equipped with an in-house LNG supply system which offers a 20% reduction on fuel consumption compared to Dual Fuel Diesel Electric (DFDE) engines, as well as reducing the carbon dioxide, sulphur and nitrogen emissions by 30%.

Last year, DSME won 37 LNG carrier orders, the most of any shipbuilder in the world.
