Royal Bodewes wins contract to build first European LNG bunker and feeder vessel

Sirius Veder Gas AB has ordered a LNG bunker and feeder vessel from Royal Bodewes. It will be the first to be built in Europe.

A joint venture owned by Sirius Rederi and Anthony Veder Group, Sirius Veder will manage and operate the vessel for Skangass under long term charter.

The 5,800m3 LNG bunker and feeder vessel will be deployed to work with vessels using LNG as a marine fuel. The ship will be built using technology applied in Anthony Veder’s small scale LNG carriers. Features will include dual fuel engine, thrusters for increased manoeuvrability, and the highest ice class notation (1A).

Jan Valkier, CEO of Anthony Veder said: “We are committed to developing energy-efficient solutions for small to mid-size LNG shipping. For Anthony Veder, this will be the fourth small-scale LNG carrier operating in the Northern European area.”

The newbuild will be delivered in February 2017.
