Helix has awarded Damen Shiprepair Vlissingen a contract for the major upgrade of the MSV Seawell.

The upgrade which will include an exchange of all six gensets including new foundations, overhaul of all azimuths and thrusters, replacement of two cherry pickers and the existing twin slewing cranes by a new single boom 50T crane with active heave compensation. Switchboards on the vessel will be renewed and accommodation will be refurbished.

Adjustments will also be made on the functioning and operation of the moon pool doors, winches and other such equipment. Statutory docking will also commence during this refit period.

Managing Director of Damen Shiprepair Vlissingen, Jeroen Heesters, is very pleased to be awarded for this refit after two years of hard work together with the Helix project team. “The successful completion of the Rowan Viking upgrade earlier this year gave a significant step upwards in DSV’s project organisation and will contribute to the successful completion of the Seawell upgrade.”
