Mitsui O.S.K launches MR pool

Mitsui O.S.K (MOL) has announced the formation of a new MR pool product tanker operation.

Asahi Tanker Co, Ultranav International and OSG International have partnered with MOL for the Clean Products Tanker Alliance, which will operate a combined fleet of approximately 60 medium range product tankers ranging from 45,000 - 55,000 dwt.

According to a statement, Ultranav will operate IMO-type vessels (*4) for the Americas trade from their office in Miami. Meanwhile MOL, whose main operations are in London, Houston, Singapore and Tokyo, will operate other vessels for worldwide trade.

MOL said: "The joint pool agreement will enable more efficient arrangement of vessels, allowing the flexibility to meet diverse customer needs with reliable, high-quality ocean transport service."
