MOL unveils new ship management and crew training programmes

Maritime company, Mitsui O.S.K Lines (MOL) has launched a new ship management services group to provide crew and ship management training services.

MOL Synergy Marine, jointly run with Synergy Group 1, is headquartered in Chennai, India and has already started managing five MOL-operated vessels. It has also established a training centre in Chennai earlier in October 2014. The centre is able to train crew in all aspects of ship operations, from navigation to cargo handling, watch-keeping, and ship maintenance.

According to a statement by MOL, the group will “create new ship management and crew training businesses by integrating the marine technical knowhow accumulated over 130 years of vessel operation with Synergy Group's growing ship management methods.”

MOL expects the business to be competitive in both cost and quality.
