Sembcorp Marine subsidiary, Jurong Shipyard Pte has scored a $696 million FPSO conversion contract.

The shipyard will convert a shuttle tanker into a floating production, storage and offloading vessel for a joint venture from Odebrecht Oil & Gas and Teekay Offshore, OOGTK Libra GmbH.

The scope of work includes the engineering, installation and integration of topside modules, installation of external turret and power generation, accommodation upgrading and piping and electrical cabling works.

Once finished the FPSO will be able to produce 50,000 barrels of oil and four million cubic metres of natural gas per day. The vessel is likely to be chartered to Petrobas and deployed in the Libra field in Brazil’s Santos Basin.

The conversion is expected to be completed before the end of 2016.

Peter Evensen, Chief Executive Officer of Teekay Offshore said: “This will be our second FPSO project for our joint venture with Odebrecht Oil & Gas which underlines the success of our partnership over the years. We are pleased to be at the forefront of this new phase of Petrobras’ development into deeper and more challenging waters, providing the necessary skills, tools and the best solutions to Petrobras for the tasks ahead.”
